We host regular exhibition by emerging and established Joburg artists in our banqueting hall – which doubles up as a spectacular exhibition space and gallry. We have a special affinity for artists based in the inner-city of Johannesburg.
During December 2020 and January 2021, we present the exceptional sculptures of Peter Majaha Mumbi.
Peter Majaha Mumbi, born in the distant town of Bulawayo, is currently based in the brittle and shiny City of Gold, Johannesburg. Art has moved in him for as long as he can remember. It solidified in the early years of primary school when he took up drawing and art has been his profession since. Peter is mostly self-taught, though he did attend the Mzilikazi Art Centre, a place which has produced a lot of luminaries. “My art is a reflection of a life lived, enjoyed and suffered, dreams fulfilled, and dreams shattered. My art is a conduit, a plea, a baring of my soul and a means to my existence,” says Peter.
