JoburgPlaces homepage

The people behind JoburgPlaces are also currently the operators of Hangout Jozi at One Eloff in Joziburg. Hangout Jozi is a casual tapas bar and restaurant and a great place for travellers to hangout and chill, to mingle with locals and to get a flavour of the city. Hangout Jozi is also a popular space to host events.

Hangout Jozi is open Tuesday – Saturday every week (closed on Sundays and Mondays).

Hangout Jozi serves delectable food platters for a shared meal between friends, colleagues or family. Our menu is based on South African streetfoods, served in abundant platters for delectable but casual meals. Our Braai platters are legendary while other favourites include our Bunny Chow burgers, Beef Potjie burgers and Fish & Chips. Apart from large shared platters, we also serve a series of smaller tapas platters – choose a whole series of different tastes and share among friends!

Hangout Jozi’s bar stocks a range of locally-made craft drinks and famous commercially-made drinks too. We serve some exceptional Gin & Tonics, Cocktails, Wines and more – perfect to combine with a platter meal.

Apart from meals and drinks. Hangout Jozi is also a popular venue for functions – from corporate events, product launches and birthday parties to weddings and more.

Find us behind the massive blue-and-yellow One Eloff building, along the Joziburg Lane on the outside of the building.

Walk in from 2 Eloff Street along the Joziburg Lane or through the retail area inside the building and find us at the back.

If you come by car drive in at 3 Wemmer Jubilee Street and drive up the ramp to the rooftop parking. Take the Forever stairs down to the lane where you will find Hangout Jozi.

One Eloff is easily reachable from the M2 highway from either way by taking the Rissik Street off-ramp into town. Once in Rissik Street, turn right into Albert and right into Eloff. To get to the parking drive down Eloff and turn left at the traffic light into Wemmer Jubilee Street. Now turn left at the gate at the end of the yellow-and-blue building. Drive up the lane and the ramp to the rooftop parking. Take the Forever Stairs down to the lane where you fill find Hangout Jozi.

Getting back home is as easy as you can access the highway in both directions from the adjacent Eloff Street onramp.

One Eloff is a short walk away from Gandhi Square where the municipal buses stop and within reach of Absa campus where the Gautrain bus stops. It is also within walking distance of Park Station, simply walking down Eloff Street in a southern direction.

Rea Vaya buses stop at Library Gardens and Carlton Centre from where it is an easy walk to Gandhi Square and down Eloff Street to One Eloff.
